For its first annual tree lighting party, Illuminate 900, the 900 North Michigan Shops planned an arts-forward, community-wide kick-off to the holiday season and delivered a magical celebration for all 1000 guests in attendance. On Thursday,
November 17, a robust line-up of holiday performances thrilled the crowd throughout the evening. The highlight being Santa's arrival to light the 50' tall tree, which was heralded by the Chicago Children's Choir singing, "Here Comes Santa Claus." Once in front of the
tree, standing with a Make-A-Wish child and the evening's celebrated host committee, Santa led the countdown to light the tree. As soon as the tree was lit, four cannons shot off colorful
streamers into the open atrium delighting the young and young at heart. "Illuminate 900 was our holiday love letter to Chicago," said Stacy Kolios, marketing director, 900 North Michigan Shops. "In the
true spirit of the season, generosity of self and spirit, we were thrilled to create a moment in time that welcomes friends and families from throughout Chicagoland to come together and celebrate the magic and wonder of the
holidays." Event highlights included performances by Forward Momentum (whose darling young dancers performed "All I Want for Christmas is You"); Ruth Page Center for the Arts (whose young dancers performed
an excerpt from the holiday classic, "The Nutcracker"); Chicago vocalist Ava Fain (who sang a sultry rendition of "Santa Baby"); Piano Forte; New Music School and the Chicago Academy for The Arts that surprised guests with a flash rendition of "Santa Claus is Coming to Town." A
raffle featured prizes from various 900 Shops retailers as well as a grand prize courtesy of Chicago Helicopter Experience–the chance to fly with Santa in his new sleigh! Sur La Table provided
sugar cookie decorating and King Cafe served hot chocolate and coffee. A Cava Bar and decor, provided courtesy of The Geraghty and Kehoe Designs, helped bring the holiday
dreamscape to life. Six handsome male models (from 10 Mgmt) dressed as Toy Soldiers completed the holiday tableau. I was proud to serve as
mistress of ceremonies for this grand night that included a stellar host committee–Graham Kostic,
Trevor Heffernon, Tom Kehoe, Corri McFadden, Jessica Zweig Fisher, Ana Belaval, Justin Jacobson, Val Warner, David Sanchez, Pierre Lockett, Nina Mariano, Julie Barrish and D'Rita Robinson. All proceeds from the evening benefited Make-A-Wish Illinois. The spirit of Christmas is alive and well at The 900 North Michigan Shops! Ho! Ho! Ho! Nearly 1,700 supporters of the Chicago Urban League gathered at the Chicago Urban League’s Golden Fellowship Dinner for its Centennial Edition to commemorate the organization’s 100 years of service to the
community. Hosted by comedian Damon Williams with dinner co-chairs Anne Pramaggiore and Frederick Waddell, the sold-out event raised a record-breaking $2.65M and culminated with a
phenomenal performance by the legendary Diana Ross. CUL pres/CEO Shari Runner challenged the crowd of business leaders, human rights advocates, philanthropists and elected officials to have serious conversations about racism to create a more equitable Chicago. “The League has
never shied away from leading difficult conversations or defending the rights our ancestors fought and died for, and we never will, no matter how insurmountable the odds may seem,” said
Runner. “We’ve arrived at the apex, facing our racial moment of truth – are we going to continue providing an alibi to the historical and current role of racism, or are we going to
finally tear it up from its roots?” The night included the presentation of the Bill C. Berry Award to longtime Chicago businessman and civil rights
activist Spencer Leak, Sr. (Leak and Sons Funeral Homes). Past League presidents James Compton, Cheryle Jackson and newly appointed Deputy Mayor Andrea Zopp were recognized for their roles in moving the League’s mission forward. A newly created individual service award was presented to and named
for long-time CUL board member, volunteer, and civic and business leader Lester H. McKeever. As chronicled in a feature video that highlighted several clients, funds raised from the dinner will support the CUL's vital programs, which serve more than 10,000 Chicago residents annually, including Student Development Center, Workforce Development, Human Capital, Housing and Financial Empowerment, Entrepreneurship and

Over 250 super fans, supporters and spectators came together at Chicago’s celebrated entertainment complex WhirlyBall (1825 W. Webster) for a night of fun and friendly competition as Chicago Fire star Joe Minoso hosted the 2nd annual WhirlyCruz Cup benefiting Shriner’s Hospital for Children. The star-studded event on
November 4 kicked off with an epic WhirlyBall battle between the casts of NBC’s hit shows Chicago Fire and Chicago PD followed by a tournament in which the celebrities led teams of sponsors and the
general public in games. Guests were able to mix and mingle with members of the Dick Wolf helmed franchise including Chicago Fire stars David
Eigenberg, Miranda Ray Mayo, Eammon Walker, Christian Stolte, Randy Flagler and Dushon Brown and Chicago PD studs Jesse Lee Soffer, Patrick John Flueger, Jon Seda, Sam Hunt and Chicago Med’s Colin Donnell and Brian Tee and Chicago Law’s Philip Winchester and
Joelle Carter, among others. Prior to the event, Minoso hosted a special holiday party for pediatric patients and their families at Shriner’s Hospital where Chicago PD’s Sophia Bush and Marina Squerciati shared gifts and treats with the children. For those of you who aren't familiar with WhirlyBall, like me, it's a game that combines lacrosse, hockey, basketball, and bumper cars in a game of skill coupled with a touch of chance. While maneuvering bumper cars, two teams of five use hand-held scoops to pass a whiffle ball to each other – and ultimately at a scoring target. Now you know!
The board members of the Children’s Research Fund came out in force along with loyal Buccellati clients to celebrate the 3rd Anniversary of Buccellati on Oak Street and the Children’s Research Fund’s 25th year of affiliation with Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. A video unveiled that evening portrayed the journey of Ryan Karlin (shown with his service dog by his side) and his family that highlighted the CRF’s contributions to neuromuscular
disease and how this high schooler has benefited from these advancements. Jacques and Marit Bohbot gifted Ryan with a pair of Buccellati cufflinks to wear for future events. The Chicago Bulls hosted the 26th annual Chicago Bulls Bowling Party on November 28 at Kings Bowl Lincoln Park. The event brought together Chicago Bulls players, front office personnel and corporate partners for an evening of bowling, delicious food and
festivities. Guests enjoyed Kings’ signature bacon wrapped scallops, Caribbean baked wings, buffalo wontons and Max & Leo’s artisan coal-fired pizza. In addition to the entire Chicago Bulls team, Benny the Bull and the Luvabulls also attended the celebration. Awww…..
The American Ballet Theatre (ABT) hosted its annual Holiday Benefit dinner and performance on December
5, at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Bev Hills. The evening featured a one-night-only special performance by the world-renowned artists of ABT, including principal dancers Misty Copeland, Stella Abrera, Gillian Murphy, Cory Stearns and James Whiteside dancing scenes from the Company’s extensive repertoire followed by a post-
performance dinner and dessert with the dancers. The evening was sponsored by Harry Winston and Lloyd E. Rigler – Lawrence E. Deutsch Foundation. Co-chairs were Avery
and Andy Barth, Michael Moser and Sutton Stracke. The Holiday Benefit performance
included excerpts from choreographer Benjamin Millepied’s Daphnis and Chloe, Alexei Ratmansky’s The Nutcracker, The Sleeping Beauty and Whipped Cream as well as scenes from ballet’s most treasured classics like Romeo and Juliet
and Don Quixote. Demonstrating the versatility and strength of the Company, the program also included contemporary repertoire by choreographer Jessica Lang and ABT principal dancer Jeffrey Cirio. On March 15, 2017, ABT will present the World Premiere of Ratmansky’s Whipped Cream at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts. This new full-length production is set to a score by Richard
Strauss with sets and costumes by Los Angeles-based artist Mark Ryden.
Nearly 200 arts, cultural and civic leaders came together for the official launch of “THE COLLECTION: Where Art Meets Fashion” at Fashion Outlets of Chicago on November 16. The private launch event featured the unveiling of Fashion Outlets of Chicago’s newly site-specific work, “A Grand Love Story (analog love in a
digital age),” by Carlos Rolón/Dzine. The event also debuted the first of “THE COLLECTION’s” rotating exhibitions. The inaugural exhibition, on view through February, was curated by Anna Cerniglia, director and founder of Johalla Projects, and features the
work of Aimée Beaubien, Kate McQuillen and Jeroen Nelemans. Upon arrival, guests enjoyed wine and Prosecco in a vacant storefront turned pop-up gallery with a site specific installation by James Jankowiak. As guests viewed the
new artwork on display throughout Level Two of the shopping center, they also took part in several interactive experiences including nail art by Gigi Jiggles, fashion illustrations by Kristine Steiner and airbrush art by AERO. In addition to the interactive experiences, guests sampled bites at tasting stations from top local restaurants including Bub City, Gene & Georgetti, Gibson’s Bar & Steakhouse, Morton’s The
Steakhouse and The Ashburn. For dessert, guests were treated to custom cupcakes inspired by the art of “THE COLLECTION” provided by Sugar Factory. Music from DJ Nikki and The Music Trust kept
the beat alive. Over the next four years, “THE COLLECTION” will include annual commissions; a series of rotating exhibitions; interactive art installations; student collaborations; and several art-focused events for shoppers and art enthusiasts to enjoy year-round. The
Rolón commission joins the work of eight artists currently included in Fashion Outlets of Chicago’s contemporary art collection, a $1 million, four year art program. They include Daniel Arsham, Bhakti Baxter, Jim Drain, Cody Hudson, Alvaro Ilizarbe, Kenton Parker, Bert Rodriguez and Jen Stark. The artwork, both painted murals and hanging installations, can be found throughout the shopping center’s common areas and will continue to be on display thru February.
The Chicago History Museum toasted the 83rd anniversary of the repeal of Prohibition on December 1 with 1930s inspired music,
dancing, cocktails, history and more at the annual Prohibition-era themed event The Last Speakeasy: On the Eve of Repeal. Around 800
of Chicago’s best-dressed guys and dolls danced to era-inspired music by The Prohibition Orchestra, tried their luck at novelty gaming tables and soaked up Chicago history across two floors of the Museum’s ballroom, exhibitions and lobbies. Guests sipped on prohibition themed cocktails and a VIP experience included password-only access to a private
bar serving up creative cocktails and specialized culinary creations from Spiaggia Restaurant’s James Beard award-winning chef Tony Mantuano and beverage director and Food &
Wine 2016’s “Sommelier of the Year” Rachel Lowe. The night included appearances from Richard Lindberg (Chicago historian and author) who spoke about the Prohibition gangs of Chicago, Joy Bivins (director of curatorial affairs at the Chicago History Museum) who spoke about the 1933 Chicago World’s Fair and John Russick (VP of education and interpretation at the Chicago History Museum) who shared his thoughts on the temperance movement.
Interior designers, treasure hunters, and collectors convened on Chicago’s North Shore the weekend of November 4-6 at the historic Winnetka Community House for the annual Antiques + Modernism Show. This popular style and design event has become a perennial favorite among Chicagoland residents as well
as those throughout the Midwest. The Show’s 60-year history and prevailing reputation speak to the caliber of this highly anticipated fundraising event, which began with a celebratory Preview Party on November 3.
Presented by the Woman’s Board of the Winnetka Community House, the Show featured three renowned speakers who are influential women in the world of interior design: iconic international designer Alexa Hampton, style maker and entrepreneur India Hicks, and Chicago luminary Michael Del Piero. Alexa Hampton presented to a sold-out crowd on Friday, November 4 during a breakfast event. She brought her
book, “Decorating in Detail,” to life by taking a closer look at selecting details for elegant, classic homes. Her lecture featured before and after images of living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms, and kitchens, with a focus on textures, fabric and furniture. India Hicks 
presented during a luncheon on Saturday, November 5; another sold-out event! Author of “India Hicks: Island Style,” the charming guest speaker gave attendees an inside look into the book’s subtle palette of island life including the family tradition of tablescaping; the lazy pleasure of porches; the drama of entertaining; the “more is more” style of
living with collections; the importance of shoe-string decorating and how to leave room for spaces of sanctuary. Michael Del Piero’s presentation, entitled “Traveled + Textural: Unusual Art and Objects for Modern Spaces,” took place during a brunch on Sunday, November 6. An extensive international traveler, Chicago interior
designer Del Piero brought an expert perspective to the process of purchasing, collecting, and displaying original art and one-of-a-kind antiques. In this presentation, she shared her insights for acquiring art and objects both domestically
and abroad. “We were extremely pleased with the success of this year’s show and the amount of money we were able to raise for the Winnetka Community House,” said event chair Kate Kligora. “Not only did we generate more than $100,000, but more than 2,000 people attended A+M, one of the highest number of visitors we’ve ever seen,”
she said. Fifty respected dealers from across the country showcased their pieces at this year’s Show. The thoughtful selection of exhibitors ensured that items were of the highest quality. From classic to modern, the A+M Show is renowned for exquisite home furnishings and accessories, artwork, clothing, and jewelry from reputable dealers who are nationally recognized specialists within their categories.
The Associate Board of the Harold E. Eisenberg Foundation will host its eighth annual Eisenopoly event at the West Loop’s Revel Fulton Market on Friday, Jan. 20. The fundraiser engages a spirited group of young Chicagoans in a fast-paced Monopoly-themed evening that plays out on customized boards for the chance to win high stakes prizes.

I'm a sucker for weddings so, it is with great happiness that I share the romantic deets of Kimberly Eberl's, CEO/founder of PR firm Motion PR. It's said that good things come to those who wait and Kim’s wait for love was over on November 17, 2014, when she met a big hearted iron
worker by the name of Grant Van Byssum. That love became everlasting when Grant proposed to Kim on March 18, 2016, off Diversey Harbor. The
wedding took place on November 19 at Our Lady of Mount Caramel, just two years and two days from when they first met. The wedding was a beautiful affair with exquisite floral décor by Mary Mazzeffi, who also filled the White House with flowers in 2015. But the most beautiful part of the
ceremony was the blushing bride walking down the aisle with tears of joy in her eyes towards a man who couldn’t and wouldn’t keep his eyes off the "greatest gift he had ever received." Their reception was held at Pinstripes with 200+ guests in attendance. Mr. and Mrs. Van Byssum went on to celebrate their honeymoon in style on a Caribbean Celebrity Cruise. Long may they love (in the words of the late, great Kup).
Actors and Others for Animals, one of the oldest animal welfare organizations in Los Angeles, celebrated their furry family members at the annual Joy to the Animals Luncheon and fundraiser at the Universal City Hilton and Towers on December 4. Awards were
presented to Laurie and Peter Marshall, Loretta Swit, and Erin and George Pennacchio. Comedian Paula Poundstone and ventriloquist Jay Johnson provided entertainment. Founded in
1971 by the late actor Richard Basehart, his wife Diana and others in the
entertainment community, the non-profit has a mission to eliminate pet overpopulation and ensure good care and protection for pet companions. All proceeds from fundraising efforts provide spay, neuter and veterinary assistance for the animals that share the lives of low or fixed income pet guardians. Well-loved comedian JoAnne Worley, currently heads up the organization. It's good to know pet care and rescue organizations like this one are in place across the country.
More than 150 guests gathered at the University Club of Chicago to celebrate Bright Promises Foundation’s 2016 Fall Awards. The evening began with a welcome from Iris Krieg, co-founder of the Chicago Foundation for Women and current executive director of Bright Promises Foundation. Krieg announced the three honorees for the evening: Filmmaker and philanthropist Gigi Pritzker received the Champion for Children Award for civic
leadership in honor of her enduring commitment to creating opportunities for all children; Ron Manderschied, president of the Northwestern University Settlement House, received the 2016 Lifetime Achievement Award in children’s services and Maria Muñoz, Academic Programs Coordinator for Erie Neighborhood House,
received the Ed Marciniak Bright Star Award for mid-career professionals, which was accompanied by a $5,000 honorarium co-sponsored by the Foundation and the Marciniak Family. Following remarks from award recipients, Shari Runner, president of the Chicago Urban League and former president of Bright
Promises’ Board of Directors, said, “During the years that I have served on the board of directors for Bright Promises, I have witnessed firsthand the incredible impact that this organization has on the entire child serving system….I believe in Bright Promises approach and I am proud to be a part of this community.” Thanks to a generous Matching Gift Challenge sponsored by Rodger and Janet

The Chicago Human Rhythm Project (CHRP), which fosters social reconciliation through American tap and contemporary percussive
arts in innovative performance, education and outreach programs, hosted its 26th Jubalee Gala November 4 at the MCA. Attended by nearly 250 people, the event raised more than $140,000 and honored choreographer/performer Michelle Dorrance and Nicholas Young, a STOMP star, Bessie Award winner and master teacher/chorographer together with the JUBA! Award for their groundbreaking collaboration on Dorrance Dance's ETM: Double Down. Jubalee guests also had the opportunity to see a full-length sneak peek
of the Chicago premiere of Dorrance Dance performing ETM: Double Down.
I was one of the 800 million viewers (from 190 countries) who watched this year's Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. I watched it while enjoying a glass of wine with Chuck and wishing I didn't have mirrors in my house. There were 51 Angels (supermodels) who
walked in the show and each one was more gorgeous than the next. It seems to me that these girls must be prefabricated like the participants in Westworld since they're so very perfect. I loved the diversity and I loved the outlandish outfits that these girls so effortlessly
wore while balancing on sky-high heels.
My favorite model was Lily Aldridge, the gorgeous daughter of my dear friend and fellow Playboy Playmate, Laura Lyons Aldridge. They showed a cute pic of the two of them side by side at the beginning of the show and it
made me smile. The event was held in Paris at the Grand Palais and interspersed with videos set against a backdrop of staggeringly exquisite French scenes. The show lasted for 60 minutes and, as one man in the audience put it, "this was the best 60 minutes of my life." I can't even imagine how you would go about getting a ticket to this
extravaganza but, clearly, this guy was a Golden Ticket winner. Model Jasmine Tookes was the lucky girl chosen to wear the coveted Fantasy Bra, valued at $3 mil and encrusted with 9000 precious stones that amounted to 450 carats. The most expensive Fantasy Bra ever was modeled by Gisele Bündchen in 2005 and was composed of 2,900 pave diamonds, 22 rubies and a 101-carat diamond centerpiece set in white gold. It cost $12.5 million. Ahhhhhh, back to
the gym I go.
More than 400 supporters turned out for an elegant evening of fun and fundraising to benefit La Rabida Children's Hospital. The 30th annual Friends of La Rabida Awards Celebration Gala, co-chaired by Bob Arthur and Dennis Lyle, was held at
the Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel and honored community and health care leaders who have shown a commitment to children with special health care needs. ABC-7's Ravi Baichwal returned as emcee for the evening that included dinner, dancing, a live
auction and paddle raise. Among the night's special guests were Cappie Pondexter (point guard for the Chicago Sky); Betnijah Laney (shooting guard for Chicago Sky), Michael Alter (principal owner Chicago Sky), Eric Ferguson and Kathy Hart (co-hosts of the Eric and Kathy Show), Drew Horowitz (COO of Hubbard Radio), Ginny Morris (CEO of Hubbard Radio), John
Rogers (Chairman/Chief Investment Officer of Ariel Investments) and Larry Wert (president of Broadcast Media at Tribune Media). Horowitz (pres/COO of Hubbard Radio and WTMX-FM) was honored for his outstanding corporate philanthropy. The Chicago Sky received an award for their demonstrated commitment to community service that was accepted by Alter alongside the players who were in attendance.
Honorary co-chairs were Jay Blick, Michael Reinsdorf, Atul Khosla and Howard Pizer.

Nena Ivon, the iconic living fashion legend and former fashion and events director for Saks Fifth Avenue from 1956 to 2009, is a brand new blogger! bittersweet though as we remember lost loved ones. I have all our late family members photos encased in ornaments on the tree so they are always a part of our celebration. This year, however, we won't even be here for Christmas–the first time EVER. We will be leaving
for a holiday vaca on Christmas Day. I hope I don't feel sad driving along the highway knowing people in the adjacent cars are rushing off for a family gathering but this was our decision. On a much brighter note, it's another Jordan Roadtrip (YEAH!) to
South Florida (West Palm, Palm and SoBe). And, at the end of our drive, we will be celebrating New Year's Eve with great, great friends. We are so excited and can't wait for more adventure, and you know I plan on sharing all the fun too. I hope your holiday is Merry & Bright and that you're spending it in good health with those you love.
