2019 Eversight honorees Sherry Lea Holson and Dr. David Lubeck.

Making Vision a Reality! The 4th annual Gift of Sight fundraiser for Eversight, this year themed "Mystery Masquerade," was

held at the Peninsula Chicago on October 24. In year's past, the event was held in June but the over 250 guests who attended this year seemed to really enjoy the move to October and especially the masquerade concept since nearly everyone came wearing elaborate and creative masks! As guests descended the staircase to the grand ballroom, passing through golden curtains, they were greeted by incredible "human candelabra" (courtesy of ZZAZZ Productions). Two performers

steroids! Tamar Productions upped the decor ante with an exquisitely tented ballroom in ribbons of black and gold. A MyEyeDr "gold cosmo" bar, an event sponsor, was placed at the end of the hallway and was created by Kehoe Designs in collaboration with co-chair Michael Caputo. A giant, golden "Winged Victory" stood watch behind the bar that was flanked by soaring golden, sculptural candle holders. As guests perused the extensive silent auction, white ostrich feathers in golden urns lined the hallway. It was truly a gorgeous event! Even the place settings were decorated with the addition of stunning crystal masks courtesy of Mary Ann Rose (Tamar Productions/committee

I'm so happy for Bruno, not only is he a genius when it comes to food but he's also a champion in the world of philanthropy with his much needed work in the prisons teaching inmates to cook (thus preparing them for a new life on the street) through his nonprofit, Recipe for Change. All good Bruno! Keep up the great work with all of your endeavors!

Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant's new flagship on Oak St.

Three months after Del Frisco's closed, the old Esquire Theater space has a new tenant. Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant, the suburban chain founded in 2005 in Orland Park is now open! The space is still as elegant as ever and the centerpiece, the "wine tower" is still in tact albeit more appropriate now with Cooper's Hawk's wine history. The location at 58 E. Oak St. is the first Chicago restaurant in its 14 year history and will now serve as its

flagship. The menu has 5 signature dishes by Chef Matt McMillin (formerly a partner in the Lettuce Entertain You restaurant group) including a 25 ounce prime bone-in ribeye. The menu is loaded with tantalizing dishes for every taste. This restaurant is also the only one in the franchise that will offer non-Cooper's Hawk wines. The chain has 35 locations in nine states, mostly in the Midwest. Welcome to the 'hood CH! Opened to the public, Monday, November 11.

Those touched by cancer shared their ‘twist on cancer’ – stories, feelings and experiences – with the artist, which served as the inspiration for the art. All the money that was raised will go back into the program to help bring Brushes With Cancer to more people in Chicago and around the world that have been touched by cancer. At the Brushes With Cancer Gala in Chicago, 35 unique works of art were on display – with each one representing an Inspiration’s personal journey

FullSizennnRenderI hope you enjoyed the early snowfall! Oh, happy day! We've begun putting up our Christmas decor with the festive holiday musical backdrop of Melissa Forman and 93.9 The Lite. After dragging 5 trees (4 for the balcony, one for indoors) out of our storage locker and into our home, we discovered that not one damn light worked. Oh well, that's God's way of telling me I need a new tree. Soooo, I found a unique "Flip" tree from Balsam Hill and I'll let you know if it meets the hype. (See video here). Hope you're gearing up now for whatever holiday is your favorite too! Nothing wrong with turkey either! Gobble! Gobble!

Blog 1 - Guests with Red Moon Theater actorsThe Office Max Green Tie Ball just keeps getting bigger and better! I didn’t think they could top last year’s theme – “The Wizard of Oz” – but with the fantastic addition of Red Moon Theater Company, “Alice in Wonderland” came Blog 2 - Joanna and Grant DePorterto life this year for more than 3,000 guests. From the moment you entered the steel factory grounds of A. Finkl & Sons, you knew magic was afoot when you walked the GREEN carpet! Dramatic visuals thrilled your senses everywhere you looked beginning with striking artwork from this classic book streaming down the sides of the Blog 3 - Emcee Val Warner with the Landon Twinstent as you entered the grounds. The Mad Hatter’s tent made me gasp as I saw oversized lamps and fabulous scenes projected on every wall. And the FOOD! There were more than 70 food stations and I don’t mean little tastings: This was REAL food prepared by Blog 4 - Interviewing Pete Wentz and girlfriend Meagan Camperchefs who wanted to be noticed. Rub BBQ Company served a BBQ martini consisting of coleslaw, cornbread, baker beans and smoked pork shoulder all in one cup! Zapatista’s carnitas on rice flower tortillas with jalapenos was mouthwatering and Flo & Santos served ravarogi (meat pierogies) with vodka Blog 5 - Sarah Cooley (2nd from R), Richard Roeper and friendscream sauce. Thank goodness I didn’t get to ALL 70 restaurants, although I did see great stuff from Frog & Snail, GT Fish & Oyster, III Forks, Rosebud, 25 Degrees, Province, Frontier and Public House. I was especially touched by Blog 6 - Jerry Roeper and David Lissnerthe offerings from the sweet kids from Bethlehem Lutheran Church who were on hand from the After School Matters’ Culinary Arts Program. Proud ASM Culinary Director/Chef Gloria Hafer said, “These students are special to us and I know they will succeed because of the Blog 7 - After School Matters students with their creationsconcern of the people here who have taken an interest in the program. I watch a lot of master chef shows and these kids could teach them a thing or two from what I saw on this night. Shannon Roche, Gisel Bahena, Abigail Garcia, Lily Harris and Omar Cardenas proudly displayed their works of art and told me how Blog 9important the program was to them. Gisel plans on working in the culinary arts and Omar was happy to have a place to go that would keep him “off the streets.” Abigail commented on the fun she had and how much she loved learning how to Blog 10 - Zac Stemer and Jordan Stemercook. This was sheer genius by the event organizers to add these kids so they could highlight this worthy organization! Of the 50 world-renowned chefs invited to this event, After School Matters was the only teen initiative asked to participate. The event was emceed for the second year by Blog 11 - Elena Samokhina and magical friendWindy City Live” hosts Valerie Warner and Ryan Chiaverini. When I interviewed them for Watch312.com, they were so excited about expanding to the weekend, with a Sunday edition coming soon. Ryan jokingly said, “You will be sick of us soon like my parents.” They are too cute for words, as we Blog 12 - Susan and John Collettiall know! Corri McFadden, glam e-Drop Off founder and star of VH1’s “House of Consignment,” and Donald Storino, principal and co-founder of the government affairs firm Fidelity Consulting Group, served as co-chairs. This Blog 13 - DJ Rock Cityevent benefitted Chicago Gateway Green, which was founded by Donald DePorter in 1986. He showed up on the green carpet around 9:45 p.m. with gorgeous arm candy, Meagan Camper. My friend and celebrity stylist Eric Himel styled them both to perfection saying, “For
Co-chair Corri McFadden and friendPete, I wanted to do something different other than rocker attire.” Wentz was decked out in a fabulous forest green suit from Oak Street’s SuitSupply with a Blog 17 - Agnes Miles and Catie Keoghbow tie. When I asked him how he liked his outfit, he said, “I feel a little Farrakhan-ish but that’s okay, I'm a fan.” He was dancing and tweeting pics of the crowd as he deejayed. So cute! Meagan was in a sleek black dress from Top Shop with green Alexis Bittar earrings. Such a stylish pair! I loved Eric’s Blog 18outfit, too, that featured a green skull necklace on a leather cord from Beatnik's, a great store in Lakeview. Entertainment included live performances from Chicago cover bands Dr. Bombay Blog 19 - Brenda Arelano and Lisa Apratiand South of 80. Well, I know for sure that 5.4 million of you watched: It was the highest-rated show in this time slot! Huge congrats to Chef Art and Lady Gaga! Blog 1 - Tocco’s Bruno AbateThe Chicago Photographer’s Party was held recently at one of my favorite restaurants, Tocco (located at 1266 N. Milwaukee) in honor of our wonderful local photographers! If it wasn’t for them, how in the world Blog 2 - Laurie Davis and event host Steve Starrwould we keep track of all of the social comings and goings? So, it was a fitting night of celebration that attracted around 200 party loving guests. There was a fantastic fashion display that featured gowns by Anna Fong, Borris Powell, Elda de la Rosa and Karol Blog 3 - Event hostess Sandy Smith-Doghmi and ChakibBarrero. Models Nicole Townsend, Bebe Georgieva, Cassandra and Freida Medina dressed up the room while the wonderful sounds of the Blog 4 - Pascal Pour Elle’s Pascal Ibgui and friendSteve Biossat Trio filled the air. Mich_Mag_Dec__2011Speaking of parties, I must say the latest issue (December) of Michigan Avenue Magazine has to be my very favorite! I wonder why!? I loved the party scene and those fabulous clothes and I am so grateful to Susanna Negovan for including me!! Photographer to the stars Steve Starr looked dapper as well in his two-page Steve_Starr_Mich_Magspread. I thought this was their best fashion feature to date. The jewelry, accessories and wardrobe were all so well planned and the models were just so darn cute/handsome!  This magazine just keeps getting better and better and I couldn’t be happier for them! Congrats Mich Mag and thanks so very much for including me! 🙂

Madonna in Bazaar feature using the Zacuto EVF!When I first met my neighbor down the street, Steve Weiss, I had no idea what he did for a living. And quite frankly, I still don’t know for sure other than the fact that he is an owner of Zacuto, which is one of the largest high-quality, originally-designed President Obama and Zacuto’s Andrew Dryermotion picture camera accessory manufacturing companies around. And Zacuto Films produces its own original web series with six Emmy nods and two wins. As I question him more, I find out that everyone – and I do mean EVERYONE – uses a piece of his equipment…who knew?!

Blog 1 - Art in Gaga;s Barney's windowIs there a more beautiful city in the country than Chicago during the holidays? Granted, New York has a lot to offer – I love those Bergdorf Goodman windows and the Barney’s windows, Blog 2 - Zoolights!this year decorated by Lady Gaga and who could resist that huge snowflake hanging in the center of Fifth Avenue? – but we have that and more (kinda)! I’ve never seen a prettier display than our own Lincoln Park Zoo’s “ZooLights” display. I can Blog 3 - Christkkindlmarket—Daley Plazajust imagine the animals having holiday parties after all of the humans have gone. And who can resist the Christkindlmarket in Daley Plaza? This delightful Blog 4 - a Macy’s window from Christmas pastspot is one of my favorites with its variety of crafts, gifts, entertainment, German food, drinks and more! Macy’s windows are always a must-see attraction and the Joffrey Nutcracker is a beloved holiday tradition. And finally, I don’t believe there is a prettier spot than right here in my own Blog 5 - Old Town fisherman cottagebackyard – the Old Town Triangle. Across the street from us is the most popular house on any Chicago tour, a darling fisherman’s cottage owned by Steppenwolf’s lucky David Blog 6 - Hef’s old home in the Gold CoastHawkanson. I love this city that just keeps getting better and better and better…can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings! Have a happy holiday! (To enjoy more photos from Christmas’ past in Chicago, please click here!)
