characters. This production of Jane Eyre challenged the idea of a classic ballet heroine. After a difficult upbringing, Jane becomes the Governess for the mysterious Mr. Rochester, discovering the struggles of society’s expectations. With stirring choreography and a captivating Victorian design, this avant-garde ballet showed that love can conquer any obstacle. Jane Eyre features live music performed by the Chicago Philharmonic, conducted by Scott Speck, Music Director of The Joffrey Ballet. He won the first round, correctly guessing the cost of a bunch of designer goods (no surprise there) but missed out on a fabulous trip to Lake Como–of the two price choices, he chose the higher one which was incorrect. Maybe he needs a new travel agent?! Also, in the audience with him was Jennifer Sutton Brieva–who should've also been onstage! The one and only CARMEN!

My favorite model in the world, Carmen Dell'Orefice, shot her first Vogue cover at age 15. She was born in 1931 and still reigns as a supermodel at age 88. At a luncheon once, she told us one of the secrets of her longevity and beauty–she never goes in the sun. It's too late for me for this advice but I have been her fangirl forever. Special thanks to my friend Peter Martino who is also very dear friend of hers. Recently, at lunch in NYC, he asked her to sign a photo for me that I will always treasure. Heidi Klum adds to the excitement for the unique premiere of Arctic Dogs.

In lieu of a typical red-carpet movie premiere for the animated motion picture ARCTIC DOGS (from Entertainment Studios), Byron Allen (philanthropist/founder Entertainment Studios) opted to create a very special moment for deserving kids! Byron, along with supermodel Heidi Klum, introduced the movie to a roomful of kids at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles recently. ARCTIC DOGS was created for kids, so there was no better audience to premiere the movie than with the kids at this hospital through its partnership with Holiday Heroes, a nonprofit that provides joy and normalcy to

hospitalized children who are critically, chronically or terminally ill. Holiday Heroes created 100 boxes that were distributed to the kids themed around the movie that included craft projects, movie branded merchandise, gift cards and more. The room was decorated in an Arctic theme with a 10-ft-long standee of the characters of the movie that the kids happily posed beside. Over the last decade, Holiday Heroes has become an established partner for children’s hospitals across the country with a growing national footprint. Dominic DiFrisco–1933-2019

more, Dominic was a game changer. Everyone he touched was forever changed for the better. One would often see Dominic stationed in his regular booth (back left) at Gene & Georgetti's restaurant, one of his favorite spots. And, more often than not, he would be offering advice and

mentorship to anyone who was lucky enough to sit with him. He gave me very valuable advice on a shady champagne deal so, yes, I've been blessed by his knowledge too. The restaurant even put a sign on his

page, where he belonged. Channel 7 was even at his funeral, which was standing room only. Dominic was a true Renaissance man. We used to see him at the opera, always impeccably dressed. We were on the Gold Coast too, to witness the dedication of a street, Dominc DiFrisco Way, at Schiller and Astor. He loved sports, music, fine dining and, of course, his beautiful family–daughter Nina and her husband Bob Mariano,

There wasn't a dry eye in the church as Dominic had meant so much, in some way, to all in attendance. The light of his life, his grandson Pasquale, gave the eulogy. You could tell his grandfather, who he called papa, had taught him well as he never faltered once in his

afterwards. Besides Dominic's many accomplishments (too many to mention here), Pasquale spoke about his grandfather's love for the Yankees and, in particular his hero, Joe DiMaggio, although he did get him to attend, and eventually love, Cubs' games too. Every notable in town seemed to be in attendance at the church, that even offered valet parking. He was larger than life and, like Cher, he only needed one name. Dominic. Everyone knew who you meant. His life was full and rich and ours was too, just by knowing him. Dominic, thanks for all you did and for the man you were. You taught us all how to live and love life.

The Ball de Fleur is the Alexian Brothers Foundation’s premier philanthropic event, and the five most recent galas have raised $3.25 million to support behavioral medicine programs and services as part of a multi-year “One Life at a Time” vision for behavioral health. “We are committed to bringing more attention to those who struggle with mental illness and addiction,” said Mark Frey, president and CEO, AMITA Health. The theme for this year’s gala was “A Night at the Rockwell … Instilling Hope One Life at a Time.” Supporters of the Alexian Brothers and AMITA Health family mingled during a lively

I can't end this blog without mentioning the "CAMPY" Met Gala! I've been watching awards and fashion shows for a long, long time and I've never seen anything this exciting, fresh or more interesting. I know a lot of the designs/attendees have been criticized for this or that

one and only Gaga! I would've loved to see how she entered the building with that magnificent Brandon Maxwell loooooonnnnggggg cape! And then when she took off each garment only to reveal another design equally fascinating was a true testimony to her and her art. Loved, loved, loved it! And love them or hate them, the Kardashians always bring the glam and the press! Joe Aguilera 54I just can’t wait for the new Langham Hotel to open in Chicago! Slated to open in 2013, it will be a 316-room luxury hotel in one of the city’s most famous downtown riverfront landmarks – a Mies van dere Rohe-designed building at 330 N. Wabash Ave. But the most exciting part of this news is that long time Elysian VP, Joe Aguilera, will be its Director of Sales and Marketing! I adore Joe, as those who know him do, and know he will be a fabulous addition! Currently, 29 member hotels are open or in the pipeline across four continents; to find out where and more info, please visit www.langhamhospitalitygoup.com. I will see YOU soon, Joe, at this sure-to-be elegant spot!

Keith Magee—RSA FellowAnd more kudos are in order for another beloved Chicagoan Keith Magee who is the executive officer of the much-anticipated National Public Housing Museum. On June 7th, he was named as a Fellow to the Royal Society of the Arts of the United Kingdom. “RSA Fellows inspire innovative thinking, enable positive change and support each other to create an enlightened space to tackle the challenges of the 21st century.” – this describes Keith to a T, as he wears his desire to make the world a better place on his sleeve. “I'm just attempting to do what I'm required – as my grandfather has said – for as long as I can remember: ‘You have to pay your rent for taking Blog 2 - Keith Magee speaking at NPHM benefit (pic by Brian Powers)up space on earth.’ And, the resounding message of my father (now deceased), ‘Your wealth will never be determined by what you have in the bank. I was even more thrilled to find out that my blog and I played such a big role! The show revolved around darling With Howard Godfrey for premiere of Chicagolicioussalon owner AJ Johnson and his cute team trying to find a way to be included on this website! I’ve gotten so many Twitter requests that I can’t believe it and the hits on my blog the following morning were amazing! The power of television – WOWZA! Here’s what AJ had to say about my blog on the show: “Candace Jordan’s blog is The Style Networkthe most important society blog in the country. We have to be mentioned on it if we want to be nationally recognized. If we can get on Candid Candace, we will have lines wrapped around the block for the salon!” Oh, AJ and “Chicagolicious,” how do I love thee? Let me count the ways! Thanks SO much for including me and Candid Candace in such big way! Love you, love your show, love that adorable cast! Good luck!
